Check out Kelly’s next MoFlo retreat in Baja, Mexico at the gorgeous El Campo! Early bird ends March 1!
Kelly Wainwright is a multidisciplinary artist, movement facilitator, writer, scribbler, and creative producer working across painting, installation, photography, text — and her signature movement practice, MoFlo (Movement + Floorwork).
Her practice spans vivid abstraction and large-scale, immersive experiences — from PB&J sculptures to women bathing in milk beneath wide skies. Whether through paint, fabric, sound, movement, scribbles, or ritual, her work explores how we connect, and come alive.

It’s all about bringing people back into their bodies — through play, color, sensory immersion, words, bones, gravity, throw, flop, and float — helping us remember the flavor, the saltiness, the smells, the pulse of being alive. Reinhabiting our own skin again — fully, messily, beautifully. Her process is tactile and embodied — a dance between the absurd and the intimate. “
“In my painting practice, I embrace raw canvas, unprimed surfaces, and unvarnished expression. I resonate deeply with fearless mark-makers like Richard Serra, Cy Twombly, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Energy, honesty, and texture are playfully explored, and imperfection is celebrated. I’m a scribbler. I work with color, movement, and whatever wants to come through my hands. Scribblers don’t tend to explain, polish, or apologize. They leave traces.”
Based in Cape Town and working globally, Kelly is currently developing her current culmination of works she calls PIMPP —
Paintings, Installation, MoFlo, Podcast, Poetry
