“My name is Moira, my friends call me Moi (which means beautiful in Afrikaans!). I am a Costume Designer that lives in Cape Town. Dressing the model to complement” the Tree in Oak Couture was so much fun that I jump on my bed once a month just to remind myself of that day.”

PLAY JUMP EAT Β· Cape Town, 2009–ongoing

Once Bed Jump began, more ideas came flooding in, all with the same common denominators:

PLAY Β· JOY Β· BEAUTY Β· ABUNDANCE Β· JUXTAPOSITION

Cape Couture staged people, costume and landscape in joyful, absurd collisions across Cape Town, working with some of the city’s most inventive designers and makers, including Porky Hefer and Doreen Southwood.

“Well my name is Ndumi and I work for the Cape Town Fashion Council. I’m a fashion and music lover and soon to be baby mama.  It was a very strange co-incidence that when i was dressed up for Oak Couture my dress and tree were kind of children’s fantasies.  I had children’s toys and things in my hair and all around me and i had just found out i was going to be a baby mama.It was lots of fun. – Ndumi Matiwane

Made for monumental scale
Cape Couture was always meant to be seen big: on building facades, in public squares, on the sides of trains, anywhere ordinary life could use an interruption. These images aren’t meant to be precious. They’re meant to be shared.

A percentage of profits from Cape Couture sales will go to the Koleka Foundation in Cape Town.

PLAY JUMP EAT was part of Cape Town’s INFECTING THE CITY with BED JUMP, which was a HUGE thrill & honor. Kelly also had shows at EXPOSURE GALLERY & MISAEL SPACE before leaving the country to have a baby!
